The talent of rebelliousness
The independent member of the Vega Sicilia family. Pintia is young, intense and ground-breaking in nature.
Proud of its origin, it has managed to reinterpret the Vega Sicilia culture in an innovative, brave and daring manner, at the head of the emergence of a new generation of Toro wines.
As is the case of all TEMPOS Vega Sicilia wines, the harvest is by hand with the fruit being placed in 12-kg boxes and grapes, once in the winery, they are left in a cold chamber for 12 hours in order to preserve their fruit intensity.
Along with the selection on the wine, a double sorting is carried out in the winery. This first removes those bunches that may have been wrongly picked in the field and the second focuses on the substandard berries that are found on optimum bunches. A cold maceration is carried out for 5 days prior to fermentation in oak wood vats.
Malolactic fermentation takes place in 100% wood. Subsequently, it is aged in French and American oak for 12 months. These are wines of great intensity of color and depth, cherry red with cardinal edges. The nose is broad, very clean, expressive and elegant, with great fruity intensity, wrapped in subtle, high quality wood. The palate offers a great structure, good tannic presence and a very friendly, fresh and persistent palate. Floral hints in retronasal.
Description
Pintia lies on the banks of the Duero River, within the DO Toro. The extremely cold winters and hot summers have an effect on the complex soils, which are rich in pebbles.
It is therefore essential to pick the grapes at the right moment to preserve the fresh aromas and acidity of the wine.
The vintage was hot and dry. It rained just before the harvest, which helped us to tame the powerful, concentrated and rustic skins. We gave the skins time to polymerise, but the priority was always to pick fresh grapes. This vintage was more about infusion than extraction. 15% of the wine was aged in large containers to preserve its fruitiness and freshness.
It was a vintage of great concentration, so we had to limit the influence of the toasted oak in favour of freshness.
Pintia 2019 is energetic, bold and full-bodied, but it is also silky. We had to work really hard to tame it, but we are proud of the result.General information

Temperatures in 2019 were above average, which, together with low rainfall, especially in the spring, resulted in a warm year.
The weather was good towards the end of the ripening period, with a little rain just before the harvest, which helped the grapes to mature.
Throughout the harvest there was no rain and the days were warm, resulting in excellent sanitary conditions.Storage, serving and drinking window

Description
Pintia lies on the banks of the Douro River, within the Toro D.O. region. The extremely cold winters and hot summers influence its complex soils, which are mainly known for their significant pebble content.
This means that finding the perfect harvest period is key to ensure the wine conserves both its fresh aromas and acidity.
Harvesting ran from 20 September to 7 October. A rainier vintage, which already looked very good during the grape skin tasting. Very fruity polymerised tannins; a vintage to undoubtedly enjoy during harvest. Our experience with the grape was reflected in the wine. A new production plant was used for the first time during fermentation, enabling even more precise work during extraction.
It was a very balanced year, with tenser wines, in which we increased the new barrel effect (5 %), while continuing to reduce the toasts in Toro.Pintia 2018 is the probably most vertical and fruitiest Pintia, but also has a lot of intrigue. A wine with a very silky texture that can be enjoyed now, but has an incredible finish.

The 2018 vintage saw more rainfall than other campaigns, particularly during spring, thus avoiding previous periods of water stress in the vineyards.
May saw a late mild frost and July was unusual (rainy, milder temperatures than expected).
Good weather and even warmth as ripening ended produced perfectly healthy grapes. The harvest started somewhat later due to the weather conditions.Storage, serving and drinking window

Harvest was from 6 to 17 September. It was a very short harvest without any stoppages to ensure maximum freshness in the wine. Extraction during fermentation was less intense compared to previous years, targeting elegance with few pump-overs.
We reduced the new American oak barrel percentage by 5 %, enhancing the effect of the lighter toasts. We also reduced malolactic fermentation in barrel by 10 %. The aim was to make the most elegant Pintia possible given the characteristics of this warm vintage.

A cold winter gave way to a warm spring, 1.7 ºC / 35 ºF above the mean recorded for the season, which caused budburst to occur 15 days early.

Description
Pintia lies on the banks of the Douro River, within the D.O. of Toro. The extremely cold winters and hot summers influence its complex soils, which are characterised by a large number of pebbles.
Therefore, it is paramount to find the optimal harvest time, so as not to lose the freshness of the aromas or the acidity of the wine.
The harvest took place between 13 September and 7 October (one of the longest in our history), due to the low temperatures and rains in September and the growth cycle of the vineyard. These conditions for the 2016 vintage helped push for a bit more extraction later on in the fermentation stage. The percentage of new oak barrels used for ageing was 80 %, American oak increasing 5 % and reaching 25 %, providing greater density in the wine. 75 % French oak was used for this ageing stage.
Pintia 2016 has a very elegant, fresh and silky balance, but at the same time, it is precise.General information

The growth cycle was marked by a rainfall of 278.75 mm (below average), an absence of heavy frosts in the dormancy stage and high summer temperatures both day and night, especially from mid-August onwards. This led to uneven ripening and earlier alcohol development (sugar content) than phenolic development (greenness of the pip and skin) early on in the harvest. However, a significant drop in temperatures in mid-
September favoured a more gradual ripening. Rainfall meant that the harvest took longer than usual (beginning on 13 September and ending on 7 October).Storage, serving and drinking window

Description
Pintia is located on the banks of the Duero River, within the Toro Appellation. The extreme weather conditions, very cold in the winter and intense heat in the summertime, act upon its complex soil known for its large amount of boulders.
It is essential, for these reasons, to choose the perfect moment to harvest, preserving freshness of aromas and the wine's acidity.
Adapting to this warm vintage, Pintia 2015 was barrel aged in 80% French oak and 20% in American oak. We must highlight that new oak barrels were reduced by 20% to provide freshness to the wine.
Pintia 2015 offers interesting fruity and spicy aroma. This is a very concentrated vintage, but also has plenty of tension and persistence on the palate; a precise wine with a long journey ahead.General information

The end of the previous campaign closed with warmer temperatures than usual. The first frost episodes took place in mid November, although these were not important until the end of December. It was a cold winter with very low temperatures, as low as -4 ºC in early January.
Spring was very rainy, concentrating half of the annual rainfall in this season. Budding occurred at the end of March. Summer was somewhat warmer than usual, although thanks to the water accumulated in spring the plant managed to extract the full potential of its soil and ripen the grapes with extra aromas and varietal flavors. Flowering took place the first week of June. During the month of August, the heat and the absence of the rain were the protagonists.
September was a dry month, leading to good sanity and a very balanced end of grape ripening. Vineyards achieved a very aromatic and harmonious finish which were harvested between the 10th and 21st of September.Storage, serving and drinking window

2013 ended with a rainy autumn, a cold start of winter and widespread frost at the end of November and throughout December, while undergoing winter pruning.
2014 began in a similar manner, cold and abundant rainfall accumulating in deep soil generously filling storage capacity of all soil types.
Spring began with soft to moderate temperatures, no relevant frost and sporadic showers towards the beginning of the season. Temperatures decreased between May 20th - 25th followed by rain, holding back the cycle. Summer was warm and dry with light rain on July 4th of 4-8 l/m2 in some areas; a second storm, causing no harm, on July 19th leaving precipitations of 9-14 l/m2 in some plots.
In August, the good water reserves accumulated in winter and the high temperatures, allowed development to continue in the cycle. Excellent indicators of plant maturation were registered up to the first days of September. Light rain helps maturation end successfully and harvest began in the more advanced plots on September 9th, ending in some areas on September 30th, with excellent maturation parameters after several rain episodes.Storage, serving and drinking window
